How the 1988 Satanic Panic became the precursor of neo Marxist revolution.
The gazillions of articles and videos across the internet all focus on whether Satanic Ritual Abuse exists, but this was simply misdirection, whilst a slow-burn Communist revolution took place.
The Conspiracy by the Mass Media to push and promote the Satanic Ritual Abuse Myth was clear to all those involved in it but has consistently been refuted and waved away as some kind of madcap theory. Manufacturing dissent began with the Satanic Panic. The republication of this rare 1991 account (below) of the war of words between the British Association of Social Workers ( A union which chose to back madcap tales of SRA and indoctrinate social workers in Britain with it) and experts in the occult who knew it was all a myth, proves just how far these Marxist activists would stoop to avoid addressing the Truth; Satanic Abuse suited their political intentions.
In this factual history of the Satanic Panic you will see the embryonic move by Marxists into developing the techniques of Identity Politics and the strategy of ‘Cancellation’ which is today so common, were all honed during this period which united the UK population in their abomination, and still continues to badly affect child-care and the administration of Justice today.
Most of the current political strategies being used to marginalise free speech today were honed on the Satanic Ritual Child Abuse Myth. Claims which were SO shocking that no decent human being would attempt to contradict them for fear of being stigmatised with those innocent parents who had been falsely accused. How can one defend such things? Surely no one would actually LIE about such horrors? Would they?
“As a feminist Marxist who frequently wrote for the Guardian, Campbell was an influential propagandist with a large following among left-leaning welfare professionals. Her platform throughout the 1987 Cleveland saga and beyond, was not the traditional class warfare but the new politics of gender. This became translated into a theory where men were substituted for the capitalist ruling class as the oppressors with women and children their captives. In this world vision sexual abuse was posited as a universal means of control of women and children (with boys as well as girls abused by their fathers as a method of induction into patriarchy).
This perversion of dogma was not new. It had begun in the 1970s and became closely aligned with what would come to be known as "repressed memory" theory. This methodology of abuse "disclosure" became linked with the family dysfunction model of child sexual abuse (criticised by radical feminists in the early days as being modelled on conservative patriarchal lines) that had taken root in the UK in the early 1980s at Great Ormond St Hospital, the Tavistock Clinic and the NSPCC. “
Thus, we shall show that claims of a pan-global network of Men ritually abusing children had nothing to do with Satanism but was a device used by Feminist Marxists to dismantle and destroy Patriarchal society and governments. Unforgiveably, the root of these myths and legends which were manipulated by the New Marxists resided in anti-semitic tropes and the ancient Blood Libels which lead to the Holocaust.

SOCIAL WORKERS CONSPIRACY REVEALED:
We have for a long time maintained that we have evidence that there is a conspiracy within certain echelons of social work to perpetuate the Satanic Ritual Abuse Myth in order to consolidate their power structures and extend the social work influence within our society. The conspiracy surrounding our presentation to BASW ( The British Association of Social Workers a union with a membership of over 6,000 at the time and was then very influential in directing the course of social work in the UK) is a classic example of how low such people are prepared to stoop. Let us run through the occurrences as quickly as we can.
Our paper to BASW ( THE SATANIC RITUAL ABUSE MYTH A paper for discussion by the British Association of Social Workers Council meeting convened on 3rd September 1991) which we mentioned in our last update, caused some fuss with the media . Social Work Today (BASW’s journal) linked it with the S.A.F.F.'s application for affiliate membership of BASW. The S.A.F.F. gave resoundingly sane interviews to the Observer and the Press Association which resulted in more positive publicity. Altogether the idea that SRAM was a fallacy and that Occultists and Pagans did not abuse children, was carried in 8 main newspapers.
Our BASW paper distils all the arguments we have been trying to put forward to counteract the SRAM for the past four years but were never given the platform to air. An explanation of the way that we engineered this breakthrough is a good example of the thread of strategy and effort which goes into our workload.
For the past two years we have been attempting to get articles and letters into Social Work Today magazine. We have sent many letters and three articles to them. The Editor, John Gilbert, has been pernicious in publishing biased information and propaganda against us. We persisted until this became OBVIOUS. Then we produced a broadsheet (sent to all social services directors and 'caring' agencies) accusing Gilbert of bias. A non-militant social worker and BASW council member (Brian Todd) saw our broadsheet and became incensed at our allegations about social workers. He telephoned us to give us a piece of his mind but was gobsmacked when we produced documentary evidence (gleaned from the painstaking effort which has gone into our massive research library).
Todd then contacted Gilbert to find out what was going on. Gilbert justified his occlusion of SAFF input. Todd believed Gilbert's justifications. At that point Gilbert bypassed the S.A.F.F. and printed Kevin Carlyon's statements that some people involved in Witchcraft were abusing children. (regular SAFFERs will remember this was a feature of an action call earlier when, during 1989 to 1992 the Tabloids were falling for Carlyon’s publicity stunts which exacerbated bad feelings between Pagans and the general populace, including when Carlyon cursed the channel tunnel and burned an effigy of a Chunnel train! ). Gilbert had the cheek to suggested that Carlyon represented the Occult just as much as the S.A.F.F. Clearly he preferred to publicise an OTT publicity monger which reinforced negative stereotypes rather than the proven research the SAFF had undertaken.
We then sent copies of cuttings about Carlyon's past media trafficking to Gilbert and Todd to show the unreliability of Carlyon's 'evidence' sending a copy both to Gilbert and Todd. Synchronously we then invoked the SAFF letter writing campaign to the Editor of SWT. (we specifically requested copies of letters to be sent to us so we could estimate the numbers and avoided accusations by Gilbert of insults or threats [Dame Jill Knight pulled that one -remember? ].
Subsequently we complained to Carlyon about his remarks and asked him to retract. Typically Carlyon claimed he had letters to back up his remarks but would not send us redacted copies of them. We then wrote to Carlyon's local police chief and demanded an investigation into Kevin's claims about holding thse letters which he said confirmed SRA. This is still ongoing. We also wrote to ask Gilbert why the S.A.F.F. was having to do his job for him? Didn't Gilbert want to find out whether Carlyon's statements had been truthful or not? Why was Gilbert taking every word Carlyon uttered as Gospel whilst apparently ignoring every fact SAFF were sending him?
We also remarked that we knew that many SAFFERS had written in to SWT to explain their views and to show that the S.A.F.F. represented the occult view better than Carlyon whose opinions Gilbert had willingly printed. Copies of all this also went to Todd who was now realising the delicate political position.
In an attempt to overcome the situation Gilbert said he was going to run an article about Witchcraft and would contact us at that time. He never did of course. This strategy to hide malpractice has been tried on us MANY times by authors and editors of magazines and newspapers. They promise to give us a right of reply and then never do. So the lies stand.
At this point Todd tried to find a compromise and spotted one letter from Sue Ruthven (a SAFFER and a free-lance journalist and Buddhist who had recently finished a manuscript on Wicca Paganism which had been accepted by a publisher) . Todd attempted to arrange with Gilbert to consider a proposed article from Sue which, they presumably believed ,would be a more reasonable proposition for them.
Todd telephoned Sue (who had voluntarily included her number on her letter) and asked her if she would write such an article. Before committing herself Sue telephoned SAFF HQ and the situation was explained to her. Showing solidarity she told Todd that although not a Witch or Pagan she had implicit trust in the SAFF and would be willing to write such an article providing HQ vetted it before it was accepted. Todd said he would have a word with SWT and get back to her but nobody ever did. The last thing these Satan Hunters in social work want, it seems, is to face off in a direct honest and truthful debate about the lies of the Satanic Ritual Abuse Myth with the SAFF.
By this time Mr Todd was perhaps beginning to see just how extensive the 'structuring' of the SRAM myth had become and how many lobbies had a vested interest in keeping us out.
Open mindedly Todd asked for more evidence and we provided him with sufficient perspective for him to see that something must be done to get over the barriers which cabals within Social Work had built to keep us out. He genuinely wanted the rank and file social workers to see the evidence which he had seen.
He invited us to present a paper at the BASW council meeting in Birmingham in September. Perhaps he thought we could not do a comprehensive presentation at such short notice and expected a short diabribe. Within three days the 50 page document was written, formatted, printed and published. THE SATANIC RITUAL ABUSE MYTH blew his socks off.
Not only did it polarise all the confusion and highlight all the manipulation that had gone on but it educated so well that Todd actually invited us to join (affiliate with ) BASW, sending us the application forms and agreeing to second us.
Mr Todd had not calculated just how much the social work profession is shot through with political manoeuvrings in relation to the SRAM. The people at BASW attempted to avoid the situation using a number of devices. Firstly they claimed that only half the number of papers had arrived (when we sent 60 - one for each member of the council) Then they refused to distribute our presentation before the meeting and instead looked at a précis of it.
The meeting was moved back from the 3rd to the meeting on the 16th of September. Then in order to bury its significance they billed it on the agenda as a 'paper on child abuse' ignoring its real title THE SATANIC RITUAL ABUSE MYTH. As soon as the paper got into circulation (we sent copies to various key people) it leaked to the media and the ensuing publicity "WITCHES JOIN SOCIAL WORKERS" etc. was used by Social Work Today to inflame the anti--occult bias within the social work industry. Volunteers at the SAFF come from all walks of life we cannot be described as ‘Witches’ or ‘Satanists’.
Gilbert is perhaps one of the key personalities who has promoted the idea of SRAM in that the debate has been sculptured, paced and parametered by the way he presented it to social workers in his magazine. As Social Work Today is the house journal of the British Association of Social Workers its impact and influence is a major force in setting the climate about SRAM. They specifically supported and promoted the ideas of SRA from leading edge feminist 3rd Wave activists and then, when the errors of their judgement was unearthed had the gall to continue to defend them against criticism.
During the SRAM controversy Social Work Today has published over SEVENTY articles and reports which promoted the idea of the existence of SRAM. These ranged from three page articles to single column reports which gave a biased impression to social workers. Including personality profiles of pro-Sramists, reviews of pro-SRAMist books, anonymous two page articles positing the SRAM theory, repetitive letters from pro-SRAMist social workers, articles of solidarity and statements of vindication with the Rochdale social workers who were accused by Justice Brown of being incompetent; Interviews with Rochdale's Social Services director who said that he believed ritualised abuse did exist and that his staff were not wrong to act as they did; interviews with and professional support for the social workers who kidnapped the Orkney children and generally biased reporting and presentation of the background to SRAM. Some random headlines will give you the idea of how British Social Workers were sold a one-sided story by Social Work Today:
ABUSE ENQUIRY HEARS OF DEATH THREATS (attempt to get sympathy for neurotic social workers who believed the Satanists were out to get them) /
BBC DROPS NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ABUSE CASE FILM (attempt to discredit research which showed Broxtowe SRAM Case was counterfeit)
CONFRONTING DISBELIEF (personality profile of leading social worker and gullible overview of the failed Nottinghamshire Broxtowe SRA Case).
MINISTER ASKS FOR STUDY INTO RITUAL CHILD ABUSE (actually the study is to discover whether it actually exists. In the finality it found there was no evidence of SRA in any of the 86 cases prevalent at the time)
PROFESSION HITS BACK AT COURT & PRESS ATTACKS (incitement to readers to disregard judges comments and any negative court statements about social workers' obsession with SRAM) /
CHILDREN USED IN RITUALS (promotion of Maureen Davies allegations about SRAM) ( See http://saff.nfshost.com/reachout.htm for the full background to how Maureen Davies lied for Jesus)
A NEW PHENOMENON (attempt to institutionalise SRAM when we had already told them that witch-hunts with the very same false motifs and memes had first occurred during the witch-trials of the 14th and 15th centuries)
PROFESSIONALS DEFEND ORKNEY DAWN SWOOP (attempt to show that Orkney Social Services had real 'evidence' which promoted the kidnappings when the minutely detailed Clyde Inquiry proved beyond doubt that there was NO evidence of SRA in any of it. )
SOCIAL WORKERS' BREAKTHROUGH IN RITUAL SEX ABUSE ROW ( Broxtowe team ask to see confidential report which criticises them. They later take legal action against publication of the report because of its criticisms and findings to stop dissemination but the J.E.T. report is eventually mirrored across the internet and reveals just how gullible and ridiculous the ‘evidence’ really was. ) /
I GAMBLED AND LOST (interview with Rochdale Social Services director after Rochdale Case where he states that his social workers were not wrong about Ritual Abuse but has had to resign his post anyway!)
DAWN RAID DEFENDED ( attempted to show that the Orkney kidnappings were done with 'sensitivity and due respect for parents' when innocent children were forcibly kidnapped by social services in dawn raids and flown hundreds of miles away from their parents to children’s homes in the Scottish mainland where they were cut off from their families )
MY STAFF WERE NOT TO BLAME (2nd interview with Rochdale Social Services Director). Lord Clyde’s Public Inquiry clearly concluded that those people who worked for Orkney Social Services WERE to blame entirely for what happened.
CRISIS FOR DIRECTOR AS RITUAL ABUSE FILE LEAKED (attempt to bring pressure on Nottingham's Social Service Director to release confidential J.E.T report to Team 4, the group of radical feminists who promoted the SRA allegations in Broxtowe) Note. Misleading. They did not want the J.E.T. report published, they wanted only to see what had been stated about their involvement in it so they could campaign to alter it’s conclusions.
ABUSE QUESTION LEFT UNANSWERED (criticism of court decision against social worker case in Orkney by Kelbie - notice that questions are never left unanswered when Social Workers get their own way)
ORKNEY COUNCIL MIGHT APPEAL SHERIFF'S RULING (rallying support for Orkney Social Services to fight Kelbie's decision - they did so appeal in due course.)
CALL FOR SEX ABUSE PROBE (Social Services directors around the UK want to institutionalise SRAM )
OCCULTISM DOES HARM CHILDREN ( Batty social worker complains about Ouija Boards & child abuse)
EXPOSING THE SECRET (pro-SRAMIST is given two pages to confuse the issue with a crackpot definition of 'ritualised' which basically includes anything from any religion, such as praying, singing hymns and carols etc. )
DIABOLICAL COVERAGE OF CHILD ABUSE ( complaints of tabloid unfairness over SRAM [that's rich] because media by this point are turning on social workers as their multiple mistakes and obsession with foolish ‘satanic indicators’ are coming to light. )
NETWORKS OF FEAR (Two page special on SRAM including fictitious graphics of children dancing round a pentagram. There has never been a case where children were found to have danced around a pentagram. So much for accuracy. )
STRANGER THAN FICTION (two page special calling for social workers to be trained in SRAM detection even though they have refused any and every attempt by the SAFF to enlighten them as to what real Witches and Satanists actually do. )
FURY OVER DAWN RAID (support & justification for Rochdale Social Workers. To see how disgustingly misplaced this was view this SAFF video here:
)
NOBODY'S PERFECT (justification of criticised social workers and complaints about the judge in Rochdale case )
USING POLICE TACTICS IS HEAVY HANDED (attempt to blame dawn swoop in police in Orkney justify cause and exonerate social workers decisions )
NOTTS TEAM ALLEGE SEX ABUSE COVER UP (propaganda to support Broxtowe Team claims) For the full story behind the Broxtowe case see here: http://saff.nfshost.com/broxtowe.htm

NOTTS EVADES DISCIPLINARY QUESTION (further support for Broxtowe Team)
ROCHDALE NEEDS OUR SOLIDARITY AND SUPPORT (letter declaring Rochdale to be a genuine case of Satanic Abuse and supporting Rochdale SOCIAL WORKERS. )
SATANIC ABUSE TRAGEDY ( swan-song by Dianne Core who claims people in social work don't want to believe that SRAM exists)
HUNTING FOR SATANISM (pro-SRAM biased review of B. Campbell's Dispatches programme on Nottingham's Broxtowe SRA Case – See:
)
ROCHDALE BAR ON ABUSE TEAM WORK (support for Social Workers who caused Rochdale SRAM Case after Rochdale council decide to remove them from social work following judge's criticisms of their professional abilities)
CHILD PROTECTION IN STATE OF FEAR (public meeting of locals and parents declares Rochdale and Orkney the battleground for a 'war' for which social workers had to equip themselves)
MP QUESTIONS POLICE ON RITUAL ABUSE ALLEGATIONS ( Worked-up story about pro-SRAMist allegations which had, already been proven false before SWT went to press with them)
DoH ISSUES GUIDELINES FOR RITUAL ABUSE CASES ( Actually the DoH guidelines were about ORGANISED abuse and did not refer to Rituals at all)
FURTHER INQUIRY MOOTED IN ORKNEY (social workers decide to wait and see if Orkney judicial enquiry results are acceptable, and warn they may start their own enquiry if not.)
What the casual reader will not know is that all this propaganda to support believers in Satanic Abuse in social work came at a cost to BASW . The union had financially supported the legal case of Paul Lee ( the Social Work Director in the Orkney SRA case) and continued to defend him during his appearances at the Clyde Public Inquiry. By November 1991 they withdrew their financial support from Lee.
‘Councillors from Orkney were due to meet Scottish Office minister Michael Forsyth this week, to warn him the council would pull out of the inquiry without government funding. This could lead to a total collapse of the hearings. Orkney SWD director Paul Lee has already withdrawn because BASW could no longer support him, and Strathclyde region says it will follow suit if Orkney withdraws.’ [Community Care magazine 21 November 1991]
So reports in Social Work Today, which is the mouthpiece of BASW, show how engaged SWT was in pushing and promoting the existence of SRA within the social work industry.
This is not an exclusive list of reports in SWT but just representative articles/reports drawn at random. You get the gist?
Throughout the past several years Gilbert has carefully avoided allowing input from occultists. The one short article we could find was a quarter of a page piece by an anti-SRAM professional headed SOAPBOX and the contents were marginalised by the subheading "Angry? Want to start a revolution? This is the place to sound off" The following week Gilbert printed a letter from another ‘professional’ criticising the content of that article! The only sustained narrative as far as SWT is considered is that despite dozens of cases failing and multiple instances of social workers being blamed, that SRA does exist and they will keep on plugging till they find examples of it.
The S.A.F.F. sent in a number of articles challenging the propaganda Gilbert was printing and all were ignored to some degree. Eventually in order to have SOME input we had to agree to a suggestion by Gilbert that one of his journalists extract information from the articles for a 'letter' on the letter's page. This is proof of the engineering of the debate towards their pre-decided outcome. The week after he printed this he also published a pro-SRAMist letter which nullified our facts.
As the arguments for and against S.R.A.M. polarised Gilbert began to ignore SAFF letters until Social Work Today seized upon our recent attempt to affiliate with BASW misrepresenting the SAFF as reactionary radicals out for conflict. We believe this was an orchestrated double attempt by both activists in BASW and Gilbert to ensure our application failed.
The campaign to discredit the SAFF in social worker's eyes began on 5 September 1991 when (in contradistinction to the previous years of dirth) Gilbert published an article about the S.A.F.F. It covered the invitation extended to us by Todd to affiliate with the organisation. The headline for the affiliation attempt was PAGANS ATTEMPT TO JOIN BASW. Now as Mr Gilbert is fully aware from previous correspondence the S.A.F.F. does not solely represent pagans but ALL minority beliefs. We are a human rights group for all minorities. The headline confused the issue and revealed Gilbert’s own prejudices. This was not a question of PAGANS joining BASW but a human rights organisation affiliating with BASW. The rest of this article depends upon quotes gleaned from Chris Bray the founder of the SAFF during a telephone interview.
In the following week's magazine TWO articles on the SAFF appeared. The first was headlined PAGANS AIM ATTACK AT ABUSE CONFERENCE and included grossly exaggerated misrepresentations about our planned orderly protest at the Lancaster 1991 Ritual Abuse conference which was advance advertised in the social work press . The article in SWT had been engineered by the conference organiser who, hearing of our wish to protest, exaggerated and sensationalised fears about the 'threat'. A typical paranoid response from pro-SRAMists. In a state of paranoia about the fact that the SAFF was to protest outside the Lancaster University building they moved their conference, lock-stock-and-barrel to The Greater Manchester Police Training School, Sedgely Park Road, Prestwich, Manchester, to ‘protect’ delegates.
Again instead of showing the SAFF to represent ALL minority beliefs and religions Social Work Today singled out PAGAN. With relevance to the use of the worlds AIM and ATTACK in the heading the commission of the word 'LEGAL' in our title was significant and we believe was designed to impress readers subconsciously with our 'extremism'.
Additionally in the body text the world ATTACK was used twice 'the SAFF will attempt to distribute leaflets attacking one of the keynote speakers'. In fact the leaflets simply point out the multitude of factual errors in the research which that Keynote speaker was going to present to social workers at that conference. The conference organiser was interviewed and said that the conference had moved venue to Sedgley Park Police Training College because the original venue could not 'guarantee security'. Another slur on our peaceful and responsible attempt to get the truth across. The conference organiser was reported as saying that the S.A.F.F. had claimed incorrectly that the conference was organised by an evangelical movement when we had not.
The S.A.F.F. never said any such thing. The panic telephone call from the conference organiser to Social Work Today came after a telephone conversation with Chris Bray in which Chris had made it perfectly clear that the protest by SAFFERS would be small scale and that only a handful of people would be present. That there would be no banner waving, simply an attempt to distribute the TRUTH to delegates as they entered the building.
In order that the organiser could be better informed Chris sent him sample copies of the two leaflets given out. We believe that the factual information in these leaflets so stunned and frightened the conference organiser, that he caused the exaggerated and unnecessary controversy in order to discredit us. In the end the demonstration went off perfectly orderly.
Over the page the second anti-SAFF article appeared in Social Work Today. It dealt with our 50 page presentation paper, titled The Satanic Ritual Abuse Myth, which was presented to BASW that month. The headline roared WITCHES ALLEGE SOCIAL WORKERS ARE PREJUDICED and went on to report that SAFF had said
' children who report satanic ritual abuse are fantasising'
and that we
'defended occult writer Aleister Crowley who advocates child sacrifice'.
In fact the SAFF's paper was one of the most level-headed and informative pieces ever written on the SRAM and made a large number of positive suggestions and recommendations all of which went unreported by the article which singled out the most controversial aspects to give the impression that we were an uncaring and irresponsible group. Additionally the continual attempt to ignore the pluralist approach of the SAFF and project us as caring only for sectarian interests was rampant throughout the SWT article.
Our paper contained a breakdown of Satanic activity in the U.K. along with a description of Paganism and how Satanism differed from Paganism. This was described as ;
'a paper defending Satanists from allegations of child abuse'.
Typically with this approach SWT were able to gain intolerant response from BASW council members (the very ones who would have to agree to our affiliation) and one, Mr Philip Meadows, said he would be opposing the application because he couldn't see how "this group's role can be at all helpful to children".
Now had these SWT reports been isolated articles published by an editor who was uninformed then we might be accused of paranoia. In fact the S.A.F.F. had complained to Gilbert about misrepresentation of the SAFF before specifically in relation to the misuse of our name and the continued representation of our organisation as solely protecting the interests of Pagans. ( At one point an SWT journalist admitted that he knew us, incorrectly, as the 'Satanic Fighting Fund" ). Additionally in the same issue Mr Gilbert ran a sparkling review of Tim Tate's book CHILDREN FOR THE DEVIL which concluded that 'All involved in commenting on dealing with, managing or widening debate on satanic abuse MUST read this book.".
Readers can see just how reliable Tate’s book was here: http://saff.nfshost.com/tatecole.htm where the book was later withdrawn from publication and pulped due to defamatory factual inaccuracies. A detailed review of this book, which still appears on the bibliography of many social Work departments today, can be found here: http://saff.nfshost.com/childrenforthedevil.htm Every single one of the 22 cases quoted as ‘evidence of SRA’ in the book failed in the course of time!
SAFFERS will be aware that the leaflets we were to distribute at the Lancaster conference specifically discredited Tate's book using genuine facts and accurate research information and that Gilbert had been sent copies of those leaflets beforehand. [SAFF update the following year Tate's book was withdrawn from sale and pulped because of defamatory inaccuracies. See http://saff.nfshost.com/childrenforthedevil.htm
SAFF immediately contacted Chief Inspector T McCabe, head of Sedgley Park police HQ about the protest and explained that we wanted three women activists to stand outside the entrance and give out SAFF leaflets on the day of the Conference. A report of the protest was contained in the SAFF’s Occult Information Interchange Bulletin newsletter 10, October 14” 1991, so:
The happenings surrounding the Lancaster seminar during September 1991 are worthy of note. This was the seminar which was exposed by SAFF in the leaflet ‘Son of Satanic Abuse’ It was organised by one Jim Wilde of North West Training Workshops and had four keynote speakers. Tim Tate, Ray Wyre from the Gracewell sexual offenders clinic, Judith Dawson (team leader for the Nottinghamshire Broxtowe SRA case and leading pro-SRAMist) and Beatrix Campbell a joumalist and political activist who has promoted the SRAM.
In the week prior to the seminar SAFF HQ got to hear through our newsa network that the organisers had heard that we were to station SAFFERS to give out leaflets outside. Revealing their abject paranoia and hysteria they immediately moved the seminar to rooms inside the Sedgley Park Police Training college in Manchester. They did this for ‘security reasons’.
Presumably their tired little minds had concluded that hordes of dagger wielding satanists were going to descend upon them. Just another indication of how damned ignorant these people are about the occult. Remember these are the ‘experts’ on Satanic ritual abuse?
HQ liased with the superintendent of the police training school about leafleting outside but negotiations moved at a snail's pace. Synchroniously we stood-down our Lancaster team and reorganised a new Manchester SAFFER group at short notice. On the day just three female SAFFERS attended to give out leaflets. When they arrived they saw that the police had stationed several giant policemen outside to avoid trouble and the sight of these bruisers towering over three quiet ladies (induding one who is already drawing her pension) made it clear that the fears of the conference organisers were unfounded and that they had over-reacted. When the police saw the truth of the matter they became ultra-friendly, invited the SAFFERS into their canteen for a cuppa and told them they could stand outside the hall to give out leaflets. The leafleting went off so well and orderly that the police said they could come back and leaflet anytime. Hundreds of leaflets were given out and delegates were extremely friendly, some admitting that they were already on the SAFF mailing list. A small but very worthwhile piece appeared in the local press. Many good contacts were made and these three SAFFERS did an excellent job of representing us. Well done Eve, Joan and Beryl. Full marks to all for standing in at such short notice and in particular Eve who took command of the whole deal and did an excellent job. The Lancaster team didn't get their chance this time but was lead very ably by John K.

We immediately wrote to Mr Gilbert and asked him to correct the errors in the articles about the S.A.F.F. Mr Gilbert has not retracted and is apparently now refusing to reply to our letters.
In between time BASW rejected our membership application. This was not entirely unexpected but what was a shock was that Social Work Today printed news of it a full week before we were officially told. The manner in which they did so was nothing short of despicable.
Again misrepresenting our wide scope of interest on human rights the headline read OCCULTISTS FAIL IN BASW BID. Gilbert was fully aware that we had not made a 'bid' and that we had been INVITED to join BASW by one of its councillors who had also seconded us. The article continued:
"BASW council this week rejected the application on ethical grounds
after membership services chair Joy Rees said that she did not
want to see the association used as a vehicle FOR A GROUP WHICH
FAILED TO RESPECT PEOPLE'S RIGHTS"
Such a bald defamatory statement which completely misrepresented SAFF policy , achievements and aims could only have been printed with premeditation but when we investigated further the actual slander was even more astounding. Ms Joy Rees had actually accused the SAFF of being RACIST and FASCIST.
In BASW'S hysterical attempt to avoid actually having to look at the evidence concerning ritual abuse (which they full well knew would discredit the stance they had taken over the past two years), they sought to discredit the SAFF utterly save that they could not use the stereotype of EVIL SATANISTS because that would have revealed their cultural bias. Instead they gravitated to the next best thing and falsely accused us of being RACISTS and FASCISTS. ( Remember folks, these are the people who organise dawn stormtrooper raids into innocent people’s houses to steal their kids from their beds and forcibly drag them from their parents arms and carry them away into children’s homes where they are incarcerated, sometimes for YEARS from contact with loving parents. And they are calling us fascists!
Now there are two points here. We have no way of knowing the religious proclivities of all our members but we do know that the vast majority of SAFFERS are anti-fascist and anti racist, as are all those who run it BUT WHAT HAS THAT GOT TO DO WITH MISTAKES OF PROFESSIONAL JUDGEMENT BY SOCIAL WORKERS WHICH ARE MADE OUT OF IGNORANCE ABOUT ALTERNATIVE BELIEFS ANYWAY?
One might as well ask whether BASW takes polls of its memberships political allegiances and is prepared to expel all those found to be on the extreme right. If so why? IT IS A NONSENSE designed to exacerbate the exact same prejudicial psychology in their members and other social workers that the satanic ritual abuse myth had done to begin with. Four years ago they were unjustly accusing Chris Bray of being a child-abusing white-slave trader and now he was being accused of being a RACIST and a FASCIST as well! Is there any end to the deviousness of these people?
Was this statement one made in the heat of the moment? We will never know but in line with our belief that it was part of an orchestrated political attempt to discredit the SAFF Mr Philip Measures (remember him? ) took the unusual step of reproducing the BASW minutes for his local social work department and publishing the 'discovery' that SAFFERS were a group of FASCIST RACISTS whom had been 'trying to gain some sort of credibility and respect for its activities' and which BASW had 'taken a clear stance against'. The ever so tolerant Mr Measures (give him a job as a witchfinder someone please) ends by reviewing the Occult Census ( see: http://saff.nfshost.com/census.htm ) where a majority of occultists indicated that they would like to see more good publicity and better press coverage. Mr Measures adds in parenthesis, '(but not by using BASW!)'.
The arrogance of this man's ignorance has to be seen to be believed. Is it any wonder that social workers' bigotry caused the biggest witch-hunt in 400 years when they have 'leaders' like this?
Needless to say we are in negotiations with BASW for an apology and a retraction pending litigation for this clear defamation. We will keep you up to date on the acrobatic antics of social work leaders and what steps they will stoop to in order to persecute us and avoid ANY debate about the falsities of the SRA allegations.
Meantime Social Work Today ended with a quote from the same council member who they had used previously to criticise the S.A.F.F. Mr Philip Measures said 'Satanic Sexual Abuse was not a myth for people working with abused children'.
As Mr Measures is from BASW'S Derbyshire branch and Derbyshire Social Services are at the moment in contest with the Mail on Sunday about perpetrating a Rochdale copy-cat blunder concerning a case of supposed Satanic Ritual Abuse on their patch, Mr Measure's comments are probably worth noting and we will certainly remind him of his words when the case collapses later on. [Ed which it did]
In the same issue Gilbert continued his unfair representation of the S.A.F.F. by publishing a letter headed SORCERERS HARM BASW'S CREDIBILITY sent in by a child-abuse consultant by the name of Ian Leighton. Mr Gilbert no doubt wanted his readers to consider that Mr Leighton's views represented a majority of BASW members. The letter read:
"So the SAFF is applying to affiliate to BASW. If BASW council approves this application I will resign from BASW forthwith and I would hope that other member will do the same. It is important to me that I have credibility with other professional agencies and it is a matter of concern that this action would seriously jeopardise that credibility. BASW does not need to go to these people for information on satanic ritual abuse. I have all the relevant research material in my databank. "
There are three things to note here.
(1) The paranoid way that social workers refuse any input from any quarter save that which supplements their own monopoly infrastructure.
(2) Synchronously, at the same time that Leighton sent the editor his threat to resign from BASW a social worker who was also an SAFF member DID resign from BASW and gave his reasons in a letter addressed to Gilbert. It read:
"I am a witch and I am also a qualified social worker and a qualified teacher of religious studies. In my experience most social workers have little or no accurate understanding of the occult or pagan beliefs and this ignorance is reflected in articles carried in SWT. An invaluable source of free and accurate information on this subject is the SAFF. Why does SWT not use this resource?"
Gilbert didn't print this letter though did he? Perhaps you would excuse him for not printing it because the writer had a declared interest in the SAFF?
What you don't know is that Ian Leighton has an un-declared interest in the promotion of the SRAM. He is on good terms with and has close contact with Hazel Woods the author of a pro-SRAMist two page article which Gilbert ran in November 1990 and which revealed just how simple-minded the inaccurate and inept approach to SRAM was at that time. Although widely accepted by readers as being worthy the article was chock full of stupidities. It declared that ritual abusers used sophisticated methods of mind control to stop children from speaking (see isolation of children in Orkney/Rochdale and many other cases which resulted from this wacky theory) and that
'everyday objects including flowers, insects and sea shells carry messages back to the group'.
Virtually all of Wood's 'symptoms' are the result of listening to fundamentalist crusaders’ mumbo-jumbo and indeed in her bibliography she recommends that social workers read MICHELLE REMEMBERS the notorious Victim Imposter book which has since been utterly discredited.
In response to Hazel Wood's allegations the SAFF sent Gilbert an article which discredited virtually every point she had made. It was this article which Gilbert asked us to condense. Ultimately after it had been rewritten he refused to publish it and instead offered to have one of his journalists edit it down and print it as a letter.
Reduced to accepting any opportunity to gain input we agreed. Gilbert printed the remains of what was a tremendously important and detailed article in the letters column under the misleading heading OCCULTISTS FIGHT BACK.
Subsequently Mr Leighton (the letter-writer above remember?) wrote to the SAFF to defend Hazel Wood. The gist of Mr Leighton's letter was that Hazel Wood couldn't answer our criticisms herself for 'very real concerns for her personal safety'. Leighton was inferring that Satanists were out to get her because she was promoting the idea of SRAM (a common paranoia amongst pro- sramists) but that he was willing to see our evidence.
The unbridled antagonism towards the SAFF evident in his letter to SWT of 19.September 1991 is a contrast with his letter to us sent six months earlier which said:
"My clinical practice is all about making connections, however unlikely," he wrote "and I would hope that my mind is open to be instructed. This is your big opportunity."
We took Mr Leighton at his word and sent him a pile of correspondence and documents which proved Hazel Wood to be misguided. Mr Leighton never replied, but on the 3rd December 1992 he did find time to write a castigating letter to Community Care magazine ( a widely circulated national journal for British social workers ) about Lord Clyde’s Public Inquiry into the malpractice of social workers in the Orkney SRA case in which he lamented the lack of advice and recommendations for dealing with cases of suspected Satanic Abuse!
Contrary to the confidence exuded in his recently published letter "BASW does not need to go to these people for information on satanic ritual abuse, I have all the relevant research material in my database", Leighton was a little more coy about the idea six months earlier. His original to the SAFF letter went:
"I do not see that there is any necessary connection between occultism and what we call "satanic" or "ritual" abuse. Indeed until I saw your letter it had never occurred to me to make a connection between SRAM and occultism. "
The evidence seems to show that Mr Leighton has gleaned most of his evidence over the past six months instead of the four years that the SAFF has been documenting the scare. That proves just how much help social workers need.
So Social Work Today readers are being blindfolded about the contribution the SAFF can make to their understanding of SRAM. Mr Gilbert's bias has now become a not too honourable campaign against the SAFF. Did Mr Gilbert know that Mr Leighton was a pro-SRAMist who was connected with the author of an influential article espousing the Satanic Ritual Abuse theory to his readers? If he did why did he print his letter and seemingly ignore the letter from the other BASW member which supported the SAFF? What is going on here?
Well what is going on is that 90% of genuine well-meaning social workers are thrashing about chasing phantoms of false allegations of SRA whilst the Marxists amongst them are stirring the pot in order to undermine The Patriachy. To dismantle bonds of the family. To demean Men of all kinds. To portray fathers as inherent abusers. To exaggerate the risk to children. To establish the idea that deep-down ALL men will rape their daughters whilst they are in some kind of trance state which makes them somehow forget all about it until they get to their mid 30s and then, under untested hypnotic induction techniques ( like ‘Recovered Memory Syndrome’ rebirthing and others) , fabricate abuse by fathers who are completely innocent of wishing them any harm. It is this imagined inherent misogyny which has created all the evil and violence in our society, they say, and if we dismantled everything and put Matriarchy in its place then the world would be Utopian. It is simply a slow-burn Communist revolution. The tag ‘Satanic’ is used solely to conceptualise ‘uber-evil’ for, as atheist communists have always done, one of their first deletions will be religious belief, whether Satanic, Christian or anything else.
So what does all this mean? What it means is that despite all the pretend hyperbole about how insignificant and dastardly they find the SAFF they are FRANTIC to avoid any further input from us because the whole social work industry knows full well that we know where it is at and will not compromise on Truth. That in the end those responsible for dishing out tragedy to innocent people will be brought to book. THAT IS WHY we are taking so much flak. Of course, all this duplicity and corruption simply serves to harden the resolve of all those SAFFERS I have spoken to about it. IT WON'T WORK MR MEASURES.
1991 article Ends:
If these people had listened to the SAFF back in the early 1990s THOUSANDS of children could have avoided mind-bending interrogations and being separated from their families, sometimes for YEARS based on the superstitions of the average British Social Worker fed on Marxist ideological nonsense. The Satanic Panic began in the UK in 1988 and the last ‘celebrated’ cases claimed to have been SRA had collapsed by 1994 when the Government published their definitive Fontaine Report [ The Extent and Nature of Organised and Ritual Abuse ] http://saff.nfshost.com/fontaine.htm on all known cases and found no Satanic Ritual Child Abuse in any of them.
In that first clutch of false cases 86 children’s lives were destroyed and at least two people died because of the lies in the Satanic Ritual Abuse Myth which these absolute fools in social work insisted was real. They are individually and collectively, wholly and fully liable for this tragedy. Their job was to protect children but what they did instead was torture them mentally until they accidentally gave some reply which satisfied their prejudices and could be twisted by the Satan Hunters in social work into tenuous ‘evidence’ that SRA had occurred. Prof. La Fontaine’s report details all their crimes.
The trauma those kids suffered is clearly etched into the faces of these victims as, years later, now adults, they relate in stunned disbelief how they were separated from their parents and siblings for no good reason. But do you know what dear reader, not one of these evil Satan-Hunters in Social Work was ever brought to book. Not one was sacked. Some resigned and were then feted within the SRA hunting clique, given new jobs elsewhere to launder their reputations. They still got paid. They still got their pensions. Whilst their victims spent decades fighting for compensation for ruined lives these social-work witch-hunters spent their time lucratively visiting conferences on SRA, writing books on SRA, travelling the world to attend and speak to conclaves of SRA fanatics and generally earning a good living insisting that they were right and that SRA existed after all, and that, very soon, a new case would turn up to prove it. (sigh)
All of them got away with it with the defence that it wasn’t their fault that they made mistakes because SRA was a new phenomenon and nobody had any expertise on it and so everyone was making the rules up as they went along. This was an absolute lie. The SAFF was the world’s foremost specialist in this area. Our many publications during this time were excellently researched and peer reviewed. The SAFF Research Library contained the greatest collection of ancient and new documents and studies on comparative religions from around the world. We had ALL the knowledge that was required and we offered it to social workers for free, but, just as can be seen from the deceitful actions of Social Work Today Magazine, the people who ran The British Association of Social Workers worked hard to REFUSE to accept anything which deviated from their obsessive belief in Satanic Ritual Child Abuse.
Their real intent was not to save children nor was it to get at the Truth. It was a Marxist political gambit to destroy the foundations of Patriarchy and re-engineer society in the Communist image. Their intention was to revivify an ancient, primeval stereotype of the worst possible type of masculinity and impose it onto today’s atheistic world as an actuality, instead of an outdated anthropomorphic deity of the religious. The ridiculous notion of The Devil had been indoctrinated over 2,000 years into the archetypes of Judaeo-Christian society. Now the Radical Feminist Socialists used this ready-made archetypal fear to smear and stigmatise every man as an ultimate risk to their wives, daughters, other women and boys and in doing so liberated manic superstitions in the orthodox religions which ‘educated’ people had thought long-dead and buried. Whether planned this way or not, the Satan Scare came precisely at the most propitious time for Christian Cults and Religions in the lead up to the Millennium (hailed by them as the Tribulations, when their holy books prophesied that Satan would try to remanifest himself to take control and usher in the The Second Coming of Christ, ). Thus there was a ready-made population of hyper-sensitive religious fundamentalists producing signs-and-wonders which confirmed the Marxist’s SRA lies, and a long queue of literally thousands of women who claimed to have recovered memories of Satanic Abuse from childhood (which in itself was a form of religious confession/purification/exorcism of past sins). The Feminist Marxists couldn’t believe their luck and children suffered for it right across the Western World.
By ignoring all the wonderful progress Western civilisation has made towards the well-being and prospects of mankind; by dismissing several centuries of The British Empire as the rapine of noble savages ( which actually brought democracy, peace and law to civilise billions of people around the world whose serfish lives were liberated from the unchangingly decrepit conditions they were in and in the process creating the infrastructure from which healthy new independent countries grew and prospered to become today’s superpowers) ; all this unique good was ignored in favour of blaming ALL men as being individually and collectively responsible for the evil within Western society, on the premise that they were driven solely and monomaniacally by perverted desires for constant sex and sadism. It is an utter pastiche of what real men are like, and a twisted slander to hide the evolutionary instincts which have protected and nurtured their families with respect and devotion.
Above all the intention of the Marxist Feminists was to generate distrust in women and children of ALL white men. Particularly self-possessed outspoken ambitious and powerful white men. Men who acted naturally, who exhibited manliness and spoke intuitively were to be shunned, and this led to the creation of verbal restraint in the way that we all had to speak, changes in pro-nouns, substitute words and a list of taboo words which denuded the self-expression of regular men. Even wolf-whistles became a crime. Collectively a very effective form of thought-censorship which disabled anyone from criticising the Radical Feminist line by stigmatising them as being too male and therefore a latent abuser. It was in fact a form of intellectual neutering which when applied to adolescents created disempowered unthreatening and subservient males whose manliness shrank into submission. As a spokesperson for Hull Rape Crisis Centre candidly wrote at the time:
We believe that satanic and ritualistic abuse are the far end and logical conclusion of the sexist, racist, patriarchal, colonialist society in which we live. and we must acknowledge its existence. ( Celia, Hull Rape Crisis. Green Anarchist Magazine 1992. )
In other words Satan is the ultimate rapist.
To handle this non-existent threat they needed to build a new child-care industry with fictional threats so severe that society would need four times as many social workers to keep up with it and use that threat to recruit literally thousands of vulnerable adult women who invented historic abuse of the most horrific kind. It is a conveyor belt of psychiatric nonsense and a burgeoning market for Feminist psychologists who are being churned out by left-leaning colleges and universities at an ever increasing rate.
Now time has passed the actual Truth is easy to see. Despite millions of do-gooders hunting down imagined Satanic Abusers over the past 36 years, there has not been a single case of claimed SRA in Britain which has succeeded in the courts. Every single case failed when formally questioned and tested. The 22 cases which social workers told you were SRA during the Satanic Panic had nothing to do with Satanism. Their evidence was not just mistaken, it was FALSE. Their ‘demonology’ of SRA was UNTRUE. Their beliefs are barmy and their hold on reality was tenuous. - But wasn’t it a good ruse to expand social work and keep the industry going? Census statistics on workers in human health and social work were at two and a half million in 1988; today they stand at just over five million and most Universities have sections in their social work courses which repeat the same false accusations and glorify the work of courageous early workers who ‘uncovered’ the threat of Satanic Ritual Abuse.
The lies are still bubbling away behind the headlines and occasionally flood forth when stupid people fall back into that mindset. In 2023 after years of quiet, a new case of SRA turned up in Scotland and was tried in Glasgow High Court. The same threadbare shock-horror headlines which were prevalent in 1988 flooded the national press, yet within a week of the Trial starting all charges and references to Witches, Satanists and Satanic Abuse were officially dropped by the prosecution. For a long list of all those cases in the UK and USA which failed, and some which were overturned after innocent people had been imprisoned for decades, see: http://saff.nfshost.com/usasracases.htm
